Parlor Tricks

Definition:

You are being treated as a parlor trick when people find out you have a certain expertise in a subject- a rapid succession of questions fires up just to see if you know the answer.

Exemplification of usage:

Them: So, you’re a science teacher. What are Newton's Laws of Motion? How does a nuclear power plant work? etc.

Me: Don’t treat like me like some sort of parlor trick.
